Each practitioner is fully trained and certified in the Eagala method of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning. They have a passion for Horses and their ability to connect with humans on so many levels. Combined with this, all of the Mental Health Professionals are fully qualified and accredited to a governing body. And all of the Equine Specialists have extensive training and qualifications in the Equine field.
Dr Helen Sharp PhD MACCPH
Dr Helen Sharp PhD MACCPH is a Northern Ireland-based EAL and Eagala practitioner (ES) and she is founder of Groundwork Equine Assisted Services in Co Fermanagh. Helen is passionate about sharing the therapeutic potential of horses and has a particular love of next career Thoroughbreds. Helen spent 15 years delivering community arts projects in post-conflict Northern Ireland and currently also works as a journalist specialising in equine wellbeing, welfare and management. She also has hands-on experience working in studs in the UK and France, and as an award-winning equine physical therapist supporting racehorses and show jumping horses.
Helen has more recently developed a focus on One Health practices for therapy herds in biodiverse and organic habitats. Her own herd of seven live out 24/7 on organically managed lands on a nature-forward farm, all year-round. Helen’s herd of horses currently partner army and police veterans and their families, and female survivors of domestic abuse.
